Coastal Waters Skipper | Version 2

The Coastal Waters Skipper course is designed to meet the competencies for skipper as outlined in Exemption 24 under Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial vessel) National Law Regulations 2013.  Successful completion of this course will demonstrate participants have the knowledge and practical application of skills to fulfil the role of skipper on a Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) vessel up to 12 meters to 30nm seaward of the nearest coastline or island and includes:

• operations of main propulsion units and auxiliary systems
• safe passage planning and navigation

SES Rescue First Aid course

First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or promote recovery.

This course is intended to increase the capabilities of SES volunteers to be able to treat and manage a casualty until advanced pre-hospital care arrives in the form of a health care professional.

To participate in this course please do the following:

1. Go to the training calendar to identify when and where this course is offered.
   
   
2. Use the training calendar course information to fill out your Nomination Form.
   
   
3. Ensure that your nomination form has been approved and signed by your Unit Manager.
    
4. Ask your Unit manager to email the completed and signed nomination form to 

   ses.training@eso.sa.gov.au
