SASES Mascot - Paddy Online Training
Paddy the Platypus is recognised, and used, as a character mascot by State Emergency Services around Australia, and assists to raise the profile of the service and engage members of the community to get prepared for flood, storm and heatwave. As such, all behaviours displayed by Paddy the Platypus within South Australia reflect directly on the whole service and SASES.
To enrol in this course, you need a current First Aid certificate and a Working with Children Check.

First Responder Swiftwater Awareness - SES
The First Responder Swiftwater Awareness course is for all Emergency Service First Responders and Local Government employees. It is designed to ensure that anyone attending a Swiftwater or Floodwater incident has the knowledge and awareness to stay safe and provide the appropriate information back to their communications centre. Please be aware that this training is not a substitute for Land Based Swiftwater Rescue training.

In this 'Introduction to Emergency Management' online course following section will be covered:
- How different organisations work together to manage emergencies in South Australia and the Emergency Management, Prevention, Preparation, Response and Recovery (PPRR) principles.
- Hazard Leaders, Control Agencies and the emergency incidents they are responsible for managing.
- The role of Support Agencies, Functional Support Groups and Zone Emergency Support Teams.
- Emergency Declarations.
- The introduction to Incident Management and Command, Control and Coordination responsibilities.
- The recovery process.
- Further reading and more detailed information about Emergency Management, if you like to find out more.

SA Incident Management Awareness
Session outline
A short online course to provide awareness of the Incident Management arrangements in South Australia.
Intended audience
This online course provides an outline of what incident management is, and how it is applied in South Australia. The course aims to provide an awareness to any individual, who might work in, or interact with, any incident management role, in incident management.
The course is a starting point for those personnel who may aim to become an incident management practitioner. They would follow this with more detailed training such as Introduction to incident management, and the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS), as well as training for specific incident management functions and roles such as Incident Controller and Planning Officer.
This course is suitable for those wanting to understand incident management and how their organisational role or position might interact during emergencies. These individuals might be council Chief Executives and other executives, members of Zone Emergency Management Teams, or members of other organisations that interact with emergency management organisations.
