Since 2011, SACFS and SASES has a standing agreement with the MAC State Rescue Helicopter Service (SRHS) to undertake the role of Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) at remote trauma retrieval operations to assist in the establishment and management of helicopter landing sites (HLS). Generally, any SACFS brigade within a 150 nautical mile (277km) radius of Adelaide Airport may be called upon to perform this role. In some areas SASES is responsible for providing HLO.

For SASES units the following ‘Helicopter Landing 2017’ presentation and standard operating procedure is provided as a learning tool to all those who may be called upon to undertake the role of HLO.
The aim of this course is to provide you with an understanding of Evacuations, their place in emergency management, and your role as an SASES member.
